The tree longest detour problem in a biconnected graph

چکیده
In a biconnected graph, a detour is the best alternative path from a detour-starting vertex to the destination vertex. A detour-starting vertex is the vertex from which the original shortest path is changed. The longest detour (LD) problem is to find a detour-critical edge in a shortest path such that the removal of the edge results in the maximum distance increment. In this paper, we deal with the LD problem with respect to a shortest path tree. An efficient algorithm which takes Oðmaðm; nÞÞ time for finding a detour-critical edge in a shortest path tree is proposed, where a is a functional inverse of Ackermann s function. 2003 Elsevier B.V. A chord of a path $P$ is an edge joining two non-adjacent vertices of $P$. A path $P$ is called a monophonic path if it is a chordless path. A longest $x-y$ monophonic path is called an $x-y$ detour monophonic path. A detour monophonic graphoidal cover of a graph $G$ is a collection $psi_{dm}$ of detour monophonic paths in $G$ such that every vertex of $G$ is an internal vertex of at most on...
متن کاملOn Detour Spectra of Some Graphs
The Detour matrix (DD) of a graph has for its ( i , j) entry the length of the longest path between vertices i and j. The DD-eigenvalues of a connected graph G are the eigenvalues for its detour matrix, and they form the DD-spectrum of G. The DD-energy EDD of the graph G is the sum of the absolute values of its DDeigenvalues. Two connected graphs are said to be DDequienergetic if they have equa...
متن کاملFinding Detours is Fixed-Parameter Tractable
We consider the following natural “above guarantee” parameterization of the classical Longest Path problem: For given vertices s and t of a graph G, and an integer k, the problem Longest Detour asks for an (s, t)-path in G that is at least k longer than a shortest (s, t)-path. Using insights into structural graph theory, we prove that Longest Detour is fixed-parameter tractable (FPT) on undirec...
متن کاملA SIMPLE ALGORITHM FOR COMPUTING DETOUR INDEX OF NANOCLUSTERS
Let G be the chemical graph of a molecule. The matrix D = [dij ] is called the detour matrix of G, if dij is the length of longest path between atoms i and j. The sum of all entries above the main diagonal of D is called the detour index of G. In this paper, a new algorithm for computing the detour index of molecular graphs is presented. We apply our algorithm on copper and silver nanoclusters ...
متن کاملOn Detour Index
The detour index of a connected graph is defined as the sum of the detour distances (lengths of longest paths) between unordered pairs of vertices of the graph. We give bounds for the detour index, determine the graphs with minimum and maximum detour indices respectively in the class of n-vertex unicyclic graphs with cycle length r, where 3 ≤ r ≤ n−2, and the graphs with the first, the second a...
